to have a childs honesty

I wrote in one of my latest posts that sometimes I lie to people to make them feel better about themselves.  Sometimes I think this is a good thing... hey, I'm making people happy but then I come to my senses and realize that lying is never appropriate.  I began thinking about how honest kids are which made me think about my sweet little Laney!  I have been watching Laney since she was 12 months old and she is now 4.5.  I absolutely love her and if I had a favorite, it would be her.  She is far too intelligent for her size, as witty as Rory and Loelai Gilmore and cannot speak without bobbing her head and making hand gestures.  She's freakin' hilarious!

Laney is the epitome of honesty

Laney: Miss Libby your hair looks crazy, you look so weird now.
(when she saw me for the first time with bangs)

Laney: (While sitting on my lap) I'm sitting on a fat girl I'm sitting on a fat girl.  Miss Libby you're so fat and your armpits (boobs) are so big.

Laney: Your new purse is so cute Miss Libby.  I like it much better than that ugly brown one you had.

Laney: MISS LIBBY, stop talking to me right now, I need my quiet time, you're annoyin' me.

Laney: Miss Libby, you're my best friend and I love you so much, thank you for being in my family.

What do you kids say that not only makes you laugh, but makes you second guess your purse or hair?

  1. Oh man, I can't wait to hear the things that will come out of my daughters mouth! Right now she just tells me "Mommy, you're so silly" (with a funny giggle). Or "Mommy, you're crazy!"

  2. Ha, hysterical! Yep, they some some of the craziest things. My son, he's 2 (just turned) was cuddling with me the other day and he said "mama, you need deoderant" ... which was probably true because I hadn't showered yet, but I love the bold honesty, made me laugh!
