Dear Cooper // Week 16

Cooper J.,

Being completely honest, I don't want to be writing this letter right now.  I can't stand that you're already sixteen weeks old and will be seventeen weeks old this Sunday.  And if we're going to get crazy with it, you will be FOUR months on next Fridays.  For some reason the weekly milestones are swallowed significantly easier than the monthly ones.  I started this letter while you were sleeping in my arms and I'm going to finish it now with you beside me in your little bed.

You are different each day, of course, but this week compared to last week has me really clinging to each and every piece of you.  Your personality is really beginning to shine through and I'm quite positive that I'm going to have a crazy little boy.  Like your Mama, you will only do things when you want to.  Some days you will roll over again and again and then you will decide that you don't want to for the next three days.  You are learning how to let that little laugh of yours escape and today I easily made you laugh three times.  I can't even begin to tell you what I would give to bottle that laugh up and carry it with me for the rest of my life.  It is music to my soul and makes me smile so big that my cheeks ache.

Sleeping is hit and miss and pretty much everything else is too.  Everyone comments on just how much you love your Mama.  You make it known, sweet boy.  In my arms you are content, always.  Your smile is a nearly permanent fixture on your face (for the past few weeks now) and your right hand is almost always in your mouth this week.  We have been letting you stay in the bath longer than previously because you love it so much.  I pour water over your clasped hands and you stare at it in wonder.  I love how everything amazes you.

This week we celebrated your first Halloween, we saw our friends Kelsy and Addison, we ate dinner at Amici's with your Daddy and Nanny, and we played with your cousin Payton.  Your love for being outside and around people is intense, so much like your Mama.

I am completely obsessed with you in the most normal way possible.  You are beautiful and so perfect, how could I not be?  I take pictures and videos of you nearly all day long because I can't stand the thought of not having every second of your life documented.  I want to tell you what you are to me, you are my heart, I grew you and our bodies are forever intertwined.  You are the best part of my days and the smile on my face.  You are the most amazing gift that God has blessed me with and my love for you is infinite.  I will always make sure you know these things.

I write these letters for you and I.  I want to remember all of the small details of your life and I want you to have my words of love for you forever.  I plan to continue to write them for at least the first year of your life.

My prayers for you this week for your future are to cherish the small joys in life like you will the large ones, to always let your love for you loved ones be known and to remember that your life is a gift.

I love you more than ever.
