GRADUATION

i'm an absolutely terrible blogger.  it's hardly a priority to me anymore but i want it to be because i have a terrible memory and want to be able to look back on these times and see what we were up to! a christmas post will come eventually but first things first:

I FINALLY GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE.

FINALLY.

it took me forever.  5.5 years to be exact.  i refused to stop when i had cooper but also knew i didn't want to be away from him all day several days a week so two classes per semester for the last two years it was.  it was an hour drive each way for me and being away from cooper in the beginning was especially hard for me.  pretty much the only times i've left him since he's been born are to go to school.  towards the end he would say "don't go to school momma!" and it broke my heart but i knew this was what was best for us.

growing up college was always just something my sisters and i were going to do.  there was never any talk about if we were going to go to college, it was always what are we going to go to college to become.  i really love that and hope that cooper will always naturally assume he will go to college too.  yes i'm coming out with a boatload of debt but eventually i will have a job that requires a college degree and the lessons i've learned and the education i've acquired is absolutely worth the cost.

it really didn't take any encouraging from others to keep me in school - i just knew i was going to finish - but there are a lot of single moms out there who probably feel like finishing college, holding a job, and being a mom is too much and i want them to feel encouraged and receive support from others to finish.  it is possible! i will do whatever it takes to better cooper and i's life and this was one of those things for me.

it feels so good to finally be a University of Georgia alum!

Go Dawgs!
